Decarbonization Game Night
On November 20, 2025, Skylight co-hosted an Energetic board game night at the Society for Ethical Culture.
Energetic is a cooperative board game that makes live the complexity of the great project of our era — rebuilding our cities to run on clean energy. Featured in the New York Times and NY1, Energetic puts players in charge of the city’s clean energy buildout from 2026 to 2040, simulating the future of New York City’s energy transition.
Your mission:
This is a hands-on way to explore what decarbonization really takes — and how you can be part of the solution.
Energetic is geared towards players of all ages, and has been used everywhere from high school classrooms to ConEdison convenings. Here, it is being played at Stuyvesant High School in Mark Henderson's Climate Literature class. Photo: Courtesy of Energetic/Yuchen Liu
Energetic was created by a team of decarbonization experts including Isil Akgul and Richard Reiss, founder of City Atlas. You can read more about Richard in our Ask an Expert interview.
This decarbonization game night is co-hosted by 350NYC, CRETF.org, and Green Co-op Council.
